Back to school checklist!

Back to school checklist!

Happy Wednesday! Hope you all are having a great week so far. I know we still have another month of summer, But I always feel once the kids go back to school, Summer is over, LOL! I mean the heat lingers on until October but summer fades away. I’m looking forward to fall weather, Pumpkin spice and halloween, too soon?! But before Pumpkin spice we have to get these kiddos back to school.

So I’ve been doing this for a while, My David is entering sophomore year so I consider myself a Pro. No not really, but I’ve done first day of school enough times to know. And I’m being sarcastic, LOL! I forgot a lot of stuff when it’s the start of kindergarten. So I’m sharing a few things that might help you in the future or if you are going through this now. I found myself running around yesterday getting last minute things done because I wasn’t prepared for these very little but important steps.

Very important and also something we might not realize until we are told. I didn’t realize Breaker’s immunization card wasn’t updated, I know he was updated with all his vaccinations, but it was not recorded on his card. So the school said without that he can’t start. Thank goodness he starts next week. I called the Dr and had the card updated. So just remember and make sure the immunization cards are updated. It’s very important.

If you have a child in sports, make sure they have physicals done. Kids will not be able to practice until a complete physical is complete and if you wait till the last minute, You will be running around trying to get appointments in and proper paper work filled out. Believe me try to get the appointments done ahead of time.

Those are important because you know dealing with Dr’s offices aren’t always a fast turnaround. The rest is basically just making sure kids have proper attire for school, School supplies most schools and classes give list for what’s needed the first week of school. So I normally just buy the basics, and shop for the rest once I have the list from teachers. It saves time and money. Sometimes we buy things they don’t need.

And lastly just relax and try to breathe and enjoy the beginning of school. I’ve learned to just be understanding especially to my oldest. I know the first month of school for him is just trying to find a system that works for him. He’s pretty busy this school year. So I will just try to help when I can and make sure he’s not slacking off, But most important making sure he stays healthy physically and mentally. And for my Breaker, He’s already having a hard time understanding he will be there longer and M-F, LOL! But I know he will love it. How mom feels, TO BE Continued!

Happy first Day of school to everyone and Cheers Mamas, We made it through another summer!

Tie Dye DIY

Tie Dye DIY

Hello my friends! So I hope you all are doing great! I’m doing really good, Getting ready for our family vacay. We are headed to Vegas soon. We wanted to get in a family vacay before the kiddos start school. Looking forward to that! So today I wanted to share a quick DIY. So I’ve talked about it on another post and I’m sure you noticed or have already jumped on the trend, Tie Dye! It’s everywhere. I’m loving it! You can find it anywhere. But I thought it would be fun to do some of our own.

We got together Monday and had a fun afternoon of some good old tie dying. My mom used to teach an art class and I remember her doing a tie dye session. She hadn’t done it in a while but her knowledge just came flowing back. My son, my nephew and my niece had never done it so they even enjoyed it. They are teenagers and young adults so that shows you how fun it is. Breaker even jumped in on the fun. He helped me with mine and you’ll see in the photo above that a little heart appeared on it. I thought that was so cute, A heart is our thing.

So first supplies you’ll need the actual dye, you can find these at Joanns fabrics or Michaels craft store. I say go with who ever has the best coupon. You’ll also need a pack of rubber bands they have these also, they have a bag with different sizes. Gloves because it will stain your hands, My mom went in all free and her hands were pretty stained. Bins big enough to put the dye and the hot water you will have to put in, I got mine at 99 cent store. Just follow the directions on the bottle, it’s pretty easy to follow. Pick as many colors as you’d like and if you don’t need a lot they had these small boxed ones that are one time use. I bought a few colors like that.

Pick out whatever you want to dye and set up your station, we did this outside because it will make a mess, if you choose to do this indoors make sure you cover the table you are using. And place your rubber bands on your tee however you like. My mom’s trick was don’t make the rubber bands so neat because you want that funky shape. My son did his by scrunching his shirt up and squirting the dye where he wanted it. We all kind of did different ways. They all came out different so that was cool and we just had fun with it. I think the more imperfect the better it looks. These were the finished products! My advice watch some youtube videos just to get an idea of what you do.

100th Blog post

100th Blog post

Hello Ladies! Today’s post is quite special. It’s my 100th post. And for that I am truly proud of myself. About 100 post ago, I was so nervous to press publish. I didn’t think anyone would care to read or even look at my Blog. But I published it anyway, and I’m so happy I did. I’ve had so much fun writing my Blog. I’m able to use my creative side and keep up with fashion like I love. I do run into some struggles, at times I feel like I’m not doing a good job, But I stop and tell myself that I am.

Putting yourself out there in this saturated world of blogging is scary. But I’m confident in myself enough to keep going.

I love sharing with you all and coming up with new things to write about. All my post really do come from my heart. I write like I’m talking to my friends, Which you are all my friends.

I plan on keeping this up until life doesn’t allow it. But until then I will continue to bring weekly blogs and fun photos.

I want to thank My photographer Wendy for supporting my vision from the beginning! Look girl 100 post later! And to the Hubby for being the best instagram husband ever, he gets low for those photos, LOL! And to all of you for taking the time to read and message me, It means the world to me. Cheers to 100 more!

Taking you down memory lane! Till next post.

Family traditions!

Family traditions!

Hello my favorite people! Hope you all are doing well! I’m really trying to get it together for Christmas. It’s going to be my first time hosting Christmas eve with my in-laws at our house. So today I thought it would be fun to talk family traditions.

I love to hear from others on what special traditions they have. Every family is so unique yet we are all the same just enjoying family and tradition.

Growing up it was pretty fun. I have a lot of cousins around my age. So we had tons of fun. We would all get together at my Aunts house and it was just a big fun gathering. Of course as we get older and we all have our kids and new families things change. But one thing we stay close and make time when we can for everyone.

One of the funnest traditions we still do and I try to attend. Is tamale night. With such a big family we’ve always made tamales a few days ahead of Christmas eve. So we get together, and get it done. I remember these nights and will always remember them. We are very lucky to have my Grandparents with us still to share these traditions with us.

Now that I’m a mom I try to make new traditions for my family. I want my boys to remember them and share them with their families one day. One thing we started was the elf on the shelf. Breaker loves it and hates it, LOL! But we enjoy leaving treats or not leaving treats if they are naughty. Another tradition we actually started this year was a Gingerbread house contest. That was fun with my sisters, my mom and the kids. I think we need to step it up for next year! So sister’s I’m ready and already making plans!

Christmas and traditions don’t have to be what we grew up on, I like to change it up a little bit. The one thing I’m hoping for next year is My mom being home. She’s been living up North for 6 years now and has missed Christmas a few times. This year being one. I hate knowing she won’t be here with us. So I will pray that next year she will be back living in LA with us!

What’s your favorite family tradition?! Hope you enjoyed this post! Till next post!
