Hello friends!! Welcome back to my Blog! It’s been a little slow over here but I’m happy to be back this week with a new post! Hope everyone is staying healthy!
So as we know out World is so different Right now, it’s been one thing after another these past 7 months! One of the biggest changes was school this year. That has been mind blowing that our kids have to be basically home schooled. But we make the best out of this situation we have been given and we get it done! It’s been 5 weeks since we started virtual learning, I have a post on all the supplies I purchased that are actually working well for us till this day! Check it out!
But for the real post after 5 weeks what tips, tricks and don’ts do I have! So if you are a parent of a teenager, just be on top of the daily work. Those big kids need that push, and just be supportive as much as you can. I check in with my oldest morning and afternoon to make sure he doesn’t need help. I think letting them know they have your support is key! Also maybe recommend them to have zoom calls with their friends if they need that extra help. My son will do assignments on a group chat with his buddies that have the same class, they laugh they get work done. Highly recommend that! Don’t think just because it’s high school they don’t need to be asked daily if they did their work! I made that mistake thinking he was on top of it and the second week he was overwhelmed!
Ok so parents with little ones!!! Yes those pesky little creatures we call little kids, just kidding! Ok so first I need to come out here and say we don’t have extra room in my house to set up a whole desk situation for my little one. And even if I did I don’t think it would even work out for him. He moves a lot like a lot! He can’t ever stay still! The first week I had him set up on the dining room table and ya he fell off the chair from moving and he just wouldn’t focus 100%. So I decided to sit him on the carpet on the floor, I mean most of preschoolers and kindergarteners spend time learning on carpet time! He’s first grade so he’s still used to that. It’s been 4 weeks that he’s been set up on the floor and yes it might not be the best on his posture but he’s not on the floor for more than an hour and a half with 2 breaks. Believe me he’s not in any pain. I do have the iPad on this great stand so his neck isn’t slouching down. Purchased on amazon! And this great surf desk for when he does writing assignments, which is pictured above, again Amazon find! Honestly he’s so much more focused and it makes it easier on me when he’s focused! So my advice find the best spot for them I don’t think it needs to be a perfect desk, but definitely not a bed,Lol! I hear his teacher saying ok get out of your bed it’s not sleeping time. So ya no bed learning!
Lastly especially the parents with little ones!! To give a helping hand for our teachers! Make sure they go pee before zoom starts, I swear I hear kids ask the teacher if they can go pee like 10 minutes into zoom, I’m like shouldn’t they go before, they aren’t on that long! And make sure your kids are prepared! I leave the supplies out and paper for impromptu drawing times or notes! So many kids say hold on teacher I’m finding a pencil or paper. I think those 2 things will help a teacher out! It’s not easy for anyone!
I hope you found this helpful! And best of luck to all! We got this! Till next post!
Back to school supplies(virtual learning)
Hello friends Happy February! The month of love! Who all still goes out for Valentine’s Day? I haven’t in years but I think me and the hubby are going to this year, so cool it is on a Friday.
Today’s post since it’s the month of love, I thought how fitting is it to dedicate my first post to my first born. He is the reason my heart grew bigger.
My David, he just had his 16th birthday. Imagine 16 years as a mom, I remember the day I went into labor with him. He was my little big guy, a whole 6lbs 11oz but long, I knew he was going to be big, he had the biggest hands and his feet were too big for his newborn pajama. I had to always cut the bottoms. He was my gentle giant. And now he’s 16 a young man that has this beautiful heart. He’s so caring and loving with everyone. I know he has a bright future. But this year he will hopefully get his license and maybe get a summer job, lol! No but really He has his written text very soon. It’s crazy!
I’m so proud of him. And I can’t wait to see him grow more as a person. He has brought so much joy to my heart for 16 years. So Happy sweet 16 my baby.
Moms out there that might be worried about having a second baby because you feel you can’t love anyone as much as you do your first, don’t be scared. Your heart is capable of amazing things. You love them just as much and your heart grows fonder every year they grow. The heart is an amazing thing and gets bigger with the more people we allow in.
Till next post!
Hello my friends! How are all my Mamas doing with back to school?! We had first day yesterday and oh my was I nervous! I even felt sick on Monday. I wasn’t sure if I was getting sick or just nerves. Well turns out it was nerves. I was praying so hard that Breaker has a great first day. Drop off was scary for me not him. I shed a few tears under my glasses. He was all smiles! Me and the hubby waited until they walked into class and we walked away feeling so weird. Leaving our baby for a full day of big boy school. Pre-school was different I knew it was 3 hours and mommy would be there before he can miss me. But kindergarten is big time! Well we went to breakfast to try to enjoy our morning and the place we go to we see nothing but parents with their babies. I mean just hurt our hearts more. Reminiscing about those fun days when he would sit in a high chair eat mum mums and make us smile. But we knew our strong boy would be fine. So of course what do we do?! We be creepy parents and pass by school early to see if we see him,LOL! Of course we get there early we wait, Bell rings and we are off to get him from class. Walks out with the biggest smile ever saying how much he loves school! Omg mom and dad were all smiles! He even tells us he wants to say bye to his teacher. He gives her a hug and she tells me he’s a joy to have in class, a dream so great! My heart felt so warm to see that and hear that. I know we are going to be just fine.
My Big boy had a great day! I mean sophomore year!!! He’s busy and he’s devoted to school! I know he will do great! I wish him the funnest year and I know he will achieve all his goals!
My morning routine went smooth. If I can share any advice is try to do as much as you can the night before! I lay out all their clothes, prep what’s going in lunches and I shower Breaker! Gives me more time in the morning and gives me that not so rushed feeling. I like to send the boys off to school not stressed. So rushing is just a no for me. Will see if we can keep it up all year long! So when’s Christmas break?! Lol
Happy back to school! Till next post!
Hello my friends! Hope you all are enjoying the summer! I know kids are gearing back to go to school. We are preparing for school over at our house. Which brings me to my post today.
So with all the news right now about the El Paso Texas shooting and Ohio shooting just gives me so much anxiety. Never in a million years did I ever think just sending my kids off to school would make me worry so much about stuff like this.
Growing up Mom would drop us off at school to learn and it was a place she knew we would be safe while she was working. Now I can’t help to have major anxiety every time I drop my Dave off at school. I try to have a positive mind and even my Dave doesn’t seem worried. So I like that he goes to school happy and positive. But as a mom I can’t help but worry about my babies.
It’s sad sad that we even worry about going to a public place now. I hate that even if I see someone with a back pack makes me nervous. Us moms have a million worries a day, I pray everyday that something changes. So we don’t have to fear sending our kids to school or even walk into our local target or Walmart. I pray hard very hard this changes.
As we send our kids off to school this year lets pray together, that we don’t have any shootings. Sending love and hugs to all the worried moms. Let’s have positive thoughts for the sake of our babies.
Hello Friends! How are you all doing?! I’m doing good. I can’t complain over here. My kids have been so good. Besides me feeling like they want food all day, I’ve actually enjoyed having them home with me. I’m just soaking it all in. I know once school starts I’ll miss them like crazy. And having them home stops me from going to target and buying unnecessary items, LOL! Because it’s too much trouble to get all of us out for a target run and these boys are homebodies.
So speaking of Target I wanted to share a few of my favorite things that I buy about twice a month. They last about a good 2 weeks and I like them all. They are totally random items they don’t even go together, LOL. But that’s what makes this post fun. It’s random but real life shit!
The first set of random items actually go together, I’m obsessed with tone it up protein powder. Like I’ve tried a few and this one is the best. I stick to vanilla because it just goes better with what I like in my smoothie, But I’ve tried the chocolate one and it’s bomb. They have other flavors as well. My go to protein bars are these from tone it up as well. They are actually really good and I love to have these in my pantry for those busy mornings. I just tried the protein bites for the first time and I really like to have these to, They are good for busy days or just wanting something sweet and trying to be good. Tone it up try them!
Ok so these are like random ass items. I for the longest used lady razors and I could never find one I liked. Until the one day I ran out and used the hubby’s razors, about 8 years later I’m still using them. Hand soap I mean we all use it and need it. I’m all about saving a buck and then Target came out with these I fell in love with this scent. Perfect hand soap for the kitchen. Last random item is this fresh gel toilet freshener. Um Hello I live in a house with all boys and a little one that’s still learning how to pee perfectly. So this is much needed, smells good and keeps the bathroom smelling fresh.
Lastly, we can’t forget the Mom juice, This Rose is good and pretty to look at. And you can’t forget your Starbucks to go! Hope you all liked this random post. Till next post.
Hello Ladies! How are you all doing?! Hopefully everyone is doing well. May is in full force and it’s a busy one. It’s the last month of school and the kids have a full load. A few exciting things happening in June. Breaker graduates from pre-school and my nephew graduates from high school. It’s crazy how fast it’s going. I feel like once you become a mom the years just fly by.
Talking about being a mom. I wanted to dedicate this blog post to Moms. Mother’s day is this weekend and us Moms need to celebrate us. Being a mom is the most beautiful thing and the hardest thing. And not to mention as we become mothers we also appreciate our own Moms more and more. And I find myself using a lot of what my mom told me on myself.
I’m not down with criticizing other Mother’s and I don’t think people should do that. I’m all about mom advice but only when it’s asked. Or if you’re giving it from the heart and not because you think you know better. I don’t think just because you have more kids you know more, You are just more experienced. But every child is different and only you as the mom know what’s best for your own child. My mom always taught us to never speak about others because you never know what you will face in the future. That sticks with me everyday. I don’t judge people on how they parent, because I’m still growing as a parent and my kids still need a lot of growing up to do. All I can do is be there for them always and have supportive people around me. Not people who will judge me on my parenting.
Mom life has been challenging. But like you’ve heard before it’s the most rewarding. A mom is your safe haven no matter how old you are. When something goes wrong in my day, My mom is the first person I want to call. I think my boys feel the same way with me and that is the best feeling ever. I always tell my boys when you get older and move out what would be the one meal you want mommy to make when you come visit. I don’t know why that brings me so much joy. I love being a mom and I love being their mom.
So Cheers to all the moms, You are awesome and you are doing a great job!
Wishing my Mom, sisters, Grandma, Aunts, Cousins and friends You are all so beautiful and I love sharing that Mom life with you all.
The Day my two hearts met! And made my mommy heart that much bigger.
Hello Ladies! Hope you all are doing well. I’m great. We just moved my Mom back to LA. It’s so great to have my Mom back, It’s been a long 7 1/2 years with her being so far. She’s getting settled and the fact that Breaker and I can make easy visits during the week is awesome. Today’s post I thought it would be fun in honor of my mom being back, to give some ideas for the mom in your life. Your mom, Grandma, Aunt, sister, friend or that special lady that has been in your life like a mom. I have some ideas for all types of moms!
First would be that fashionista mom in your life. This special lady likes to shop and dress with all the fun trends. She enjoys coffee with friends and a nice shopping day with no kids. You can’t go wrong with a gift card from her favorite store and a good old Starbucks gift card! She needs the energy to shop!
Second is the fit mom that loves a fun new workout class or just working out at home with her Sweat app. Loves a good walk or run in an open space. You can’t go wrong with some fun stylish cute sneakers. Don’t forget she needs some awesome tunes to listen to while she gets her workout in and in style with some rose gold beats. She’s going to need to stay in touch with the world so an apple watch is a must!
Third is the mom that needs a Break! Some of my favorite things is taking a long shower, wash my hair and give my face a nice wash, exfoliate and mask. In a nice robe to just pamper yourself after a long day being Mom. Summer Fridays has the best pampering mask and not to mention they are pretty to gift. Every girl needs a cute robe to pamper yourself in.
Last are two that I actually love, Being a mom and busy with dropping off kids and running errands, I mean sometimes we don’t shower first thing in the morning. So a nice everyday perfume to make you smell delicious is a must. The BFF KKW one is actually my favorite at the moment. And my all time favorite Mom bag is the Neverfull MM Bag. It’s the best bag for a mom. It’s literally NEVERFULL.
Well Ladies and Gentlemen I hope this was helpful and you get that special lady in your life something she deserves to make her feel loved. Till next post.
Hello Everyone! Spring break is in full effect over here at my house. Boys are off for the week and I’m trying not to yell! No but really my boys are good but it does get hard since they are 10 years apart, The little one thinks everything the teenager does needs punishment, LOL! So all I hear is mom punish Dave or Mom I’m hungry, Like seriously!
With summer around the corner, I’m already looking for new swimwear. I’m pretty basic when it comes to picking out swimwear. And with being a mom and having the kids with me, that’s also something I keep in mind when shopping for swimwear. I remember when David my oldest was 2 We were in Jamaica and I went down the slide with him in a more low-cut bathing suit and lets just say they flew out, LOL! So I’ve learned to keep it comfortable, cute and kid friendly. I’ll keep the low cut for trips with no kids. So I’ve rounded a few that I like, and that can be styled with some cute accessories to look trendy and chic at the pool! Loving neon so I had to throw that one in, A pink is always cute, You have to have a black one I mean it’s a must. The leopard is so good, and I actually ordered it, it’s on the way! You can throw on some jean shorts. I like to place a tee over and tie it, if you’re walking around the pool area. A cute sheer duster is always a must. Don’t forget some sandals. I like havaianas for the pool!
Accessories to give your swimsuit that extra cuteness. I love a good sunhat, Find one that’s neutral so you can wear it all summer with everything. A good bag that you can toss everything inside for pool and beach days, Moms you know how much we pack for kids. I think everyone needs a cute basket bag, So fun and chic. I always like to buy a more inexpensive pair of sunglasses for the pool and beach with kids. Just to be safe you won’t ruin your more expensive ones. I love me a cute layered necklace with a swimsuit and you can’t forget the scarves. I love a cute head scarf, You can wear it so many different ways and also tie it on your shorts or basket bag for color. check out my video on instagram @stylesencillo for a short video on how I style a basic black swimsuit.
Well ladies happy swimsuit shopping, Hope you liked this post, Till next post.
Hello Ladies! So who in LA is a little tired of this rain?! Ok I know we need it but so many day’s just gets depressing. I think it’s going to start clearing up and Now I get to take some photos for some new content, LOL!
I wanted to start a Chit Chat post. I tried it last year and I liked just catching up and writing about what’s new in my life. So with that here’s the 1st one for 2019.
I’ve been pretty good. Still going strong with my workouts. I will give a better update on the app I’m using next post. January is always one of those months that you feel obligated to have all this energy and drive to be the best you can. But honestly after all the holidays back to back and the end of the year madness. January is the most tired for me. I’m honestly finally recharged. I’m feeling more creative and I really want to push myself on the blog to step out of my comfort zone. Blogging isn’t easy, but I love it so much. So I continue. One day I will feel accomplished with my Blog!
Family life has been great. You know same mom stuff that goes on everyday. My older son just had his 15th birthday and that was fun. I swear ladies it goes fast. I remember just going back to work crying because I had to leave my little brand new baby. And now he’s this young adult that is just the sweetest son. We celebrated with his closest buddy’s it was really sweet. We had lunch and cake at home and went bowling. It was really cool and highly recommend Highland park bowl. If you are in LA check it out. They do cater to 21 and over more, But kids are allowed before 8pm. The boys had fun and my son was happy. We ordered his cake from my fav with a pinch of love and cake topper from my fav Auntieapple. Check them both out if you are in the LA area.
Having a teenager is not easy. I have moments where I feel like I’m failing. But we move forward and I realize it’s him growing up. The best advice I’ve been given to deal with teenagers is, talk to them like adults. They don’t want to be talked down to. They comprehend what we do and they need to be talked to like we would like to be talked to. I really try to keep that in my mind when I’m having a discussion with my teenager. And it has helped us. I’m lucky I have a good kid. I’m still learning. But everyday I definitely appreciate my mom more and more. So if you’re a mom of a teenager don’t feel like you’ve hit a wall. Communicating is the best thing. I don’t force things out of him, I allow him to feel comfortable to talk to me. I was doing the forcing thing and it wasn’t working. So just be aware and if it’s not hurting them, Allow them to come to you. Being confrontational just back fires on parents. It makes them nervous. Just a little advice of what I’ve learned.
Well that’s just a little chit-chat with Lisa! Hope you liked it , Till next post!
Hello Ladies! So I wanted to try something new with my Blog! About every 2 months I’m going to do a chit-chat with me post. Sometimes I feel like my Blog is either sharing a particular item, event or style. I really want to just open up. The reason I started my Blog was to feel good and be able to share feelings and things with everyone.
Lately I’ve been feeling a little torn, with what I want to do. I’m really thinking about going back to work. The only thing is I can’t go back full-time yet. Since Breaker is still in pre-k he doesn’t have a full time schedule yet. I’ve always loved working. Of course my dream would be to make a business out of my Blog. But that takes time and I’m still working on it. I just need something else. It’s actually something I’ve been thinking about a lot. A little bit of why I’ve been feeling uninspired. The hubby is so supportive. He just wants me to do what I feel I should do. He encourages me to do something I will be happy doing. So that’s a big part of where I’m at with career.
Family Thankfully we are all Healthy and doing great. One thing that is hanging over me, Is if I’m really done having kids. I truly thought after Breaker I would be done. But As he gets older I think maybe one more would be good. It’s a feeling I can’t shake. But a few things get in the way. My age is a big part. I’ll be 40 in April so that’s a big big part. But I see so many women these days have babies older. I’m healthy so I don’t think it’s impossible. Another reason of hesitation is the fact that Breaker is at an age that we can get out more and be a little more free. The last reason is just time. David’s getting older and time goes so fast. I want to do more for him like travel. He needs a different kind of attention right now. It’s not impossible but having another baby will slow us down a little. So it’s a decision I will have to be set on soon. Time is ticking!
Life in general. We are planning more family outings and just trying to make every minute of life count. Maybe it’s the fact I turn 40 next year but I appreciate everyday. I love spending time with family and friends more and more. Looking forward to new memories and making 2019 a great year.
Hope you all enjoyed this post! Till next post!
