My go to swimwear style

My go to swimwear style

Hello Everyone! Spring break is in full effect over here at my house. Boys are off for the week and I’m trying not to yell! No but really my boys are good but it does get hard since they are 10 years apart, The little one thinks everything the teenager does needs punishment, LOL! So all I hear is mom punish Dave or Mom I’m hungry, Like seriously!

With summer around the corner, I’m already looking for new swimwear. I’m pretty basic when it comes to picking out swimwear. And with being a mom and having the kids with me, that’s also something I keep in mind when shopping for swimwear. I remember when David my oldest was 2 We were in Jamaica and I went down the slide with him in a more low-cut bathing suit and lets just say they flew out, LOL! So I’ve learned to keep it comfortable, cute and kid friendly. I’ll keep the low cut for trips with no kids. So I’ve rounded a few that I like, and that can be styled with some cute accessories to look trendy and chic at the pool! Loving neon so I had to throw that one in, A pink is always cute, You have to have a black one I mean it’s a must. The leopard is so good, and I actually ordered it, it’s on the way! You can throw on some jean shorts. I like to place a tee over and tie it, if you’re walking around the pool area. A cute sheer duster  is always a must. Don’t forget some sandals. I like havaianas for the pool!

Accessories to give your swimsuit that extra cuteness. I love a good sunhat, Find one that’s neutral so you can wear it all summer with everything. A good bag that you can toss everything inside for pool and beach days, Moms you know how much we pack for kids. I think everyone needs a cute basket bag, So fun and chic. I always like to buy a more inexpensive pair of sunglasses for the pool and beach with kids. Just to be safe you won’t ruin your more expensive ones. I love me a cute layered necklace with a swimsuit and you can’t forget the scarves.  I love a cute head scarf, You can wear it so many different ways and also tie it on your shorts or basket bag for color. check out my video on instagram @stylesencillo for a short video on how I style a basic black swimsuit.

Well ladies happy swimsuit shopping, Hope you liked this post, Till next post.

Chit Chat with Lisa vol 1

Chit Chat with Lisa vol 1

Hello Ladies! So who in LA is a little tired of this rain?! Ok I know we need it but so many day’s just gets depressing. I think it’s going to start clearing up and Now I get to take some photos for some new content, LOL!

I wanted to start a Chit Chat post. I tried it last year and I liked just catching up and writing about what’s new in my life. So with that here’s the 1st one for 2019.

I’ve been pretty good.  Still going strong with my workouts. I will give a better update on the app I’m using next post. January is always one of those months that you feel obligated to have all this energy and drive to be the best you can. But honestly after all the holidays back to back and the end of the year madness. January is the most tired for me. I’m honestly finally recharged. I’m feeling more creative and I really want to push myself on the blog to step out of my comfort zone. Blogging isn’t easy, but I love it so much. So I continue. One day I will feel accomplished with my Blog!

Family life has been great. You know same mom stuff that goes on everyday. My older son just had his 15th birthday and that was fun. I swear ladies it goes fast. I remember just going back to work crying because I had to leave my little brand new baby. And now he’s this young adult that is just the sweetest son. We celebrated with his closest buddy’s it was really sweet. We had lunch and cake at home and went bowling. It was really cool and highly recommend Highland park bowl. If you are in LA check it out. They do cater to 21 and over more, But kids are allowed before 8pm. The boys had fun and my son was happy. We ordered his cake from my fav with a pinch of love and cake topper from my fav Auntieapple. Check them both out if you are in the LA area.

Having a teenager is not easy. I have moments where I feel like I’m failing. But we move forward and I realize it’s him growing up. The best advice I’ve been given to deal with teenagers is, talk to them like adults. They don’t want to be talked down to. They comprehend what we do and they need to be talked to like we would like to be talked to. I really try to keep that in my mind when I’m having a discussion with my teenager. And it has helped us. I’m lucky I have a good kid. I’m still learning. But everyday I definitely appreciate my mom more and more. So if you’re a mom of a teenager don’t feel like you’ve hit a wall. Communicating is the best thing. I don’t force things out of him, I allow him to feel comfortable to talk to me. I was doing the forcing thing and it wasn’t working. So just be aware and if it’s not hurting them, Allow them to come to you. Being confrontational just back fires on parents. It makes them nervous. Just a little advice of what I’ve learned.

Well that’s just a little chit-chat with Lisa! Hope you liked it , Till next post!

Chit Chat with Lisa!

Chit Chat with Lisa!

Hello Ladies! So I wanted to try something new with my Blog! About every 2 months I’m going to do a chit-chat with me post. Sometimes I feel like my Blog is either sharing a particular item, event or style. I really want to just open up. The reason I started my Blog was to feel good and be able to share feelings and things with everyone.

Lately I’ve been feeling a little torn, with what I want to do. I’m really thinking about going back to work. The only thing is I can’t go back full-time yet. Since Breaker is still in pre-k he doesn’t have a full time schedule yet. I’ve always loved working. Of course my dream would be to make a business out of my Blog. But that takes time and I’m still working on it. I just need something else. It’s actually something I’ve been thinking about a lot. A little bit of why I’ve been feeling uninspired. The hubby is so supportive. He just wants me to do what I feel I should do. He encourages me to do something I will be happy doing. So that’s a big part of where I’m at with career.

Family Thankfully we are all Healthy and doing great. One thing that is hanging over me, Is if I’m really done having kids. I truly thought after Breaker I would be done. But As he gets older I think maybe one more would be good. It’s a feeling I can’t shake. But a few things get in the way. My age is a big part. I’ll be 40 in April so that’s a big big part. But I see so many women these days have babies older. I’m healthy so I don’t think it’s impossible. Another reason of hesitation is the fact that Breaker is at an age that we can get out more and be a little more free. The last reason is just time. David’s getting older and time goes so fast. I want to do more for him like travel. He needs a different kind of attention right now. It’s not impossible but having another baby will slow us down a little. So it’s a decision I will have to be set on soon. Time is ticking!

Life in general. We are planning more family outings and just trying to make every minute of life count. Maybe it’s the fact I turn 40 next year but I appreciate everyday. I love spending time with family and friends more and more. Looking forward to new memories and making 2019 a great year.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! Till next post!

Halloween treats

Halloween treats

Hello My friends! Hope you all are doing well! I can’t believe October is almost over, Like seriously! Once Halloween passes by, all the other holidays come knocking hard! I don’t even want to think about christmas shopping! I think online shopping will be my friend this year.

I wanted to share some cute little treats I found on Pinterest! I wanted to make something for Breakers class that wasn’t so much candy. When I saw these I knew I had to make them. I did change it up a little. But still basically the same. Here’s the original link from Pinterest.

This is what you’ll need and how to make these cute little Frankensteins!

BXLLE6820

Supplies you will need. Play-Doh, I got the small size not the smallest they have but smaller than the original size. But you can use the bigger ones if you’d like. Some Rolo chocolates, green felt, some googly eyes, sharpie and glue gun. I purchased the play-doh and Rolo candies from target, the felt and googly eyes from Michaels.

IMG_2988-1.jpg

For one treat you will need this, one play-doh tube, 2 Rolo chocolates, 2 eyes, measure the green felt so you cover the tube of play-doh and cut into a strip. Lastly your sharpie for the mouth.

Facetune_17-10-2018-14-29-57

Once you have all the supplies ready, glue the felt around the tube of play-doh, glue the rolo candies on the side, the googly eyes have adhesive so you just have to pop those on and draw the mouth however you’d like. Doesn’t have to be perfect. Wallah you have these cute little Frankenstein treats for the littles. They will love these. I even had Breaker help make them so he can be excited to give these out to his friends at school.

I love Pinterest for all my craft ideas. I love to re-create and change it up to be my taste. Our kids get so much candy so I wanted to give something fun.

Hope you all liked this post, If you re-create them tag me in a picture on Instagram. Would love to see. Till next post!

New school year Goals

New school year Goals

Hello Everyone! How are all my LA people doing in the heat! Seriously it’s so hot. My kids just want to be in the house. Luckily the nights are beautiful outside. We try to get outside at night. Even if it’s just for ice cream. Just trying to enjoy the last week of summer Break for us 3. David starts high school next week. He’s excited. Which is why I wanted to write about the goals we have for this school year.

So I officially have a high school student on my hands. I’m so proud of the man he’s becoming. He’s such a sweet person. Very caring about everyone. My wish for him this year is to have fun, get good grades. Try something new and meet new people. Last year we did have some bumps in the road. But we got through them together and he worked hard. I want David to enjoy high school. This year we agreed he would join some clubs. He has a good set of friends so I love that. These days kids can be so mean and with social media it can really effect them in different ways. I wish him an exciting first year of high school.

My pre-schooler Breaker. This little guy is getting so big. My baby is growing up. It’s bitter-sweet. I want him to be a baby. But I love to see him grow into his little personality. He’s a character that’s for sure. This year I wish for him to get better at writing his name all by himself. Learn to read a full book alone. We will start to look into putting him into sports this year since he will be 5. We are thinking soccer. So stay tuned, LOL! I wish for a fun pre-school year and to prepare for kindergarten!

For mommy! As for this year, I plan on being easier on myself. I struggle with giving myself too much. I want to be more present in my head. If I can’t complete one task it’s ok, I have tomorrow. I’m here for my boys to make their school year great. I’m looking forward to the me time I’ll be getting while both boys are at school. I plan on taking more  of those free days to do one fun thing for myself. Last year I felt I was trying to do too much in the few hours Breaker was at school. I felt more tired. I need to tell myself it’s ok to put that cleaning aside or leave target errands till later. I plan on working from a coffee shop more. Getting more walks in at the rose bowl. Finding a yoga class that I’ve been wanting to take again. I feel if I take care of my needs I’ll be way better to my boys.

Family school year goals. I want to really put our phones away at night and be more in the moment. I’ll admit we do have our phones at the table for dinner. But that’s going to stop. I want us as a family to still do one fun family thing a month. We did some fun things this summer and we enjoyed the family time with us 4. We get caught up with a lot once school starts, so making the time to be a family should be a top priority.

Here are a few snap shots of our summer. We did have a nice summer vacay. Love my boys so much!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Till next post.

Back to school shopping

Back to school shopping

Hello Ladies! Hope you all are doing well! This week has been a little slow for me on the blog/Instagram side. The last couple days I’ve been feeling a little tired. So I haven’t had any desire to shoot any content, But I can’t wait to create more. It’s hard to shoot content when I’m feeling 50% myself. But I’m feeling better today. So today I want to show you all my favorite’s from the ever so popular Nordstrom Anniversary sale!

The boys are back at school end of August. So we are making list and getting ready for the new school year. It’s an exciting year for David. He’s a freshman! He’s been having a blast this summer. This summer is the first that he actually has hung out with his group of buddies so much. I love that. They have all been friends since kindergarten. And it’s also the first time he’s wanting to pick his own clothes. Usually I pick out everything. But this year he found his way to express his style and I couldn’t be happier. I think kids expressing themselves with clothes is so fun. He loves color. And I’m not mad at that. So for back to school I’m leaving it to him. All mom is picking out are more leisure wear and gym shoes. These are my picks for David( 14 years old).

fullsizeoutput_23f3fullsizeoutput_23f4fullsizeoutput_23f2

Now for my Breaker. Mommy still picks out all his clothes! This little guy will be back to his pre-school. He is turning 5 this November, But if you are a parent and aware of the “cut off” for starting kindergarten you will know why.  We kind of like this cut off because he’s still baby to us. I feel he wouldn’t even be ready for a real full-time school schedule yet. I’m really happy we will be back to his pre-school. We love everyone there. For this little guy comfort is key! And clothes I won’t care about getting a little stained, Mom’s ya feel me! I normally like to shop target for his school clothes. But these are my picks for Breaker that will be perfect for the transition into the cooler days ,I’m so wishing for.

fullsizeoutput_23f1fullsizeoutput_23f0fullsizeoutput_23effullsizeoutput_23eefullsizeoutput_23edfullsizeoutput_23ecfullsizeoutput_23ebfullsizeoutput_23ea

And for Mom! I mean Mom’s should get some back to school stuff too! Some of the things I really look forward to when the boys are back to school, are running fast errands alone. I get so much done in the little time Breaker is at school. Who else hates making more than 2 stops when you have a kid in a car seat? I see your hands Mamas, LOL! So one of the perks of the boys in school is running those fast errands. And another of my favorites is taking a walk around the Rose bowl to clear my head feel some air and just let go of stress. Once the weather cools down I will be back around the rose bowl. So these are my picks that will have me back to school ready.

So Ladies these are my Nordstrom Anniversary sale picks. Sale ends August 5, so get your shopping on! Till next post.

Surviving Summer Break

Surviving Summer Break

Hello Ladies! Hope you all are doing well! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. My weekend was nice nothing crazy. I’ve never been one to travel during holidays. I’d rather stay home during the busy weekends.

So with that said. We have summer break with the kiddos fast approaching. I’m sure all us stay at home moms are so excited, LOL! Ok enough jokes. Let’s get serious. I’ve come up with a few things that will help me keep sane and I’m hoping this will help you out too.

Ways to survive summer break!

  1. Remember to stay stocked on snacks. During spring break just a week, I felt I was in the kitchen all day. My boys want to eat constantly. I will pre-pack snacks in the fridge for the week. Like fruit and small bites. Things they can just grab if they get hungry. I think if I pre-pack healthier snack this will limit the junk food that’s always easier to grab. I also plan on making lunch and dinner menus for the week so I’m not stuck in the kitchen wondering what to feed them.
  2. Assign Daily chores. And yes I will even make my 4-year-old do this. I think it’s important to keep them helping around the house. I hate to see them be so lazy. I’ll be making a monthly list of things they need to get done everyday. I will reward them by letting them pick an activity for the week or favorite treat.
  3. Keep them active. I exercise everyday. So I plan on making them walk or get some kind of exercise. Riding bikes, riding skateboard etc.
  4. Make them read. I’ve really slacked off on this with my older son in the past. But I’ve made a promise to myself that I will make it happen for all of us even myself. I will be taking a trip to the bookstore so we can all pick out a book. I’m excited about this one because I haven’t had time to read a book in a long time. I’m trying to set the example.
  5. Getting outdoors everyday. This is important. Kids these days stay inside due to technology. I’ve spruced up my porch so we can all sit outside and eat a snack outside everyday. No phones or iPad allowed!

These are my 5 major things I want to enforce So mommy and the kids don’t go crazy!

I’ve also listed a few places will venture out to this summer

  1. kids space -$13 for ages 1+ – This is more for my 4-year-old but my oldest is a trooper.
  2. Natural History museum -Adults $12 kids $9
  3. California Science center-free unless it’s a special exhibit
  4. LACMA- free for LA residents after 3pm
  5. movies since my 4-year-old can sit through them now
  6. Beach-mostly on weekends so daddy can come
  7. Palm springs -family getaway
  8. Santa Monica Pier

These are just a few that I’ve looked up that are good for Mamas on a budget or just cool places in LA. I’ve lived in LA all my life and California has so many cool spots to visit. Even if it’s a drive a nice road trip is always a good idea.

Happy Summer Break MAMAS! Remember we are all in this together. Till next post.
