Goodbye 30’s, Hello 40

Goodbye 30’s, Hello 40

Hello Ladies! How are you all doing?! I’m so ready to celebrate my Birthday. As you can tell by the title, I’m turning 40. My actual birthday is April 6. I wanted to share a little bit of what I learned in my 30’s and what I hope to achieve in my 40’s.

My 30’s taught me a lot. I actually learned a lot about myself. I really wasn’t happy with myself in my 20’s I think I tried to grow up too fast. So my 20’s were very tiring. Maybe one day I’ll write more about that. but today is about my 30’s. I was a single mom in the beginning of my 30’s. I had a 5-year-old aka David, my oldest. I was a working single mom and getting it all done. I balanced pretty well and I never felt over tired or never felt like I wanted anything different. I was content. Of course as time went on I wanted a companion. But I wasn’t pushing it or looking. In my early 30’s was when ,I met my soul mate. I honestly feel like I wouldn’t have met that special someone until I was happy with myself. I felt comfortable in my skin and I liked who I was as a person. I didn’t yet have the confidence I have today but I was on the right path. I was a mother first and always first. So I learned how to balance being a mom and making that time for my love life. We all know relationships aren’t easy but when you are happy with yourself and know what you want. It can make it easier.

IMG_2241

One of my biggest lessons in my 30’s was to be true to myself. It’s what I live by today. Don’t try to keep up with the anyone. God has made a path for all of us. We just need to learn how to stay in our own lane and not try to cut someone off because you think they have it better than you. Don’t ever feel like your dreams are just dreams, make them happen and don’t ever let anyone tell you, You can’t! I try not to use that word anymore. Believe me I used it a lot before. I may be turning 40 but my dreams are still young and I plan to accomplish them. I will and I can.

IMG_2335

Turning 40, I’m not afraid of getting older. Because I’m getting wiser, It’s not just a saying it’s the truth. I don’t know it all, But I can say I know all about myself. I’m a good mom, lover, daughter, sister and aunt. I’m not even scared of a little Botox, LOL! I feel great in my skin and I’m proud to say I’m 40! I feel like it’s a new chapter for me. It’s my time to shine! So cheers to 40! and to all my fellow SHHS sisters that turn 40 this year, Girls we are hot!

Since I love fashion I thought it would be fun to share what was popular in 1979 the year I was born! Pleated skirts, I thought that was cool being my b-day party outfit consist of pleads. I’ll share that next week. Belted jackets which I see that a lot right now. They say fashion just keeps coming back! A bow blouse, I mean one of my favorite blouses is a bow blouse! Denim overalls, do those ever go out of style?! A tube top, Everyone loves a good tube top! 1979 fashion was cool! Thanks Mom for giving Birth to me! So I can say I was born in the 70’s! I mean it sounds so much cooler! Till next post!

Happy 2019!

Happy 2019!

Hello Ladies! I’m so happy to be back and with this fresh New Year! I can’t believe we are in 2019! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday season. We had a very nice one. It’s just crazy how fast it comes and goes. My kids enjoyed it and that’s what I live for.

I wanted to take this first post of 2019 to recap on 2018 and talk about my goals for 2019. Like last year I won’t share personal goals because I feel they should be for my eyes only. But I did want to share a few things I want to work on this year to make me feel accomplished.

So last year was a lot of little goals for my home and myself. And I’m proud to say I was able to cross off a few on my list. I did minor changes to my house, like very minor. A little bit of paint and some new accessories can really make your home feel so different. I’m happy with what we got done and I can’t wait to conquer this years mini home makeovers. Another that was on my list was to get healthy and that I did. I felt good inside and out. I still need more work, which I’ll talk about in a minute. Get a vacation in. That I did. I took my first ever trip away from my hubby and kids. That was great, I was so nervous but so glad I did it. We did more family outings and that was the highlight of my year. I can’t wait to do more!

IMG_4922

My first is Health! I know it’s so cliché and I’m sure sick of new year new me, LOL! So am I. But it’s something that has helped me in 2018. Exercise and just better food choices. I can’t wait to be a little more strict with the eating, but I’m all about moderation. I don’t deprive myself with things I love. Life is too short not to enjoy. Water water water is the key thing and I need to get better. Give yourself 20 minutes a day to move that body! If you keep it up you will eventually crave more. Let’s get it moving together!

Facetune_01-01-2019-15-36-05

Second is Mind. I think if we have a clouded mind #1 on my list will not work. Health is also in the way we think and who we surround ourselves with. I am not going to let my mind take an ugly turn. I am great , I am good. No one is better than me we are all different in our own unique and beautiful way. Remember what you see on social media is a square of one moment in someone’s life. That most of the time is staged. If a person doesn’t make you feel good about yourself, They aren’t worth having around. Make time for those special friends in your life that make you smile. Take time for yourself. I plan on being more positive in my mind. And live everyday with a smile.

Facetune_01-01-2019-15-35-34

Third is family. I plan on traveling with them and making new memories and new traditions! Doesn’t have to be a fancy trip just a fun trip with my boys. Family time means so much to me. Taking family hikes, trying new restaurants, Just living our best life.

I wish all of you a Very positive, Healthy and Happy year! With full of great memories! Can’t wait to share another 365 days with all of you! Happy 2019!

Breaker’s 5th Birthday party

Breaker’s 5th Birthday party

Hello ladies! Are we all gearing up for Thanksgiving?! It’s been such a busy few weeks. I was in full force party mode for Breaker. I feel bad because I haven’t been able to work on content for my Blog as much as I’d like. But I promise I will get back to it. I’m actually looking forward to 2019. I’m praying we have a great year and if all goes well some fun trips ahead. So stay tuned!

Today I wanted to share some photos of Breaker’s party and some of the great ladies I used and where I purchased the fun treats.

IMG_E3881

Normally I’ll give a nice first birthday and a nice fifth birthday for my kids. So with this being Breaker’s fifth I put a little more into it. He wanted a PJ Mask theme so that’s what we went with. I personally like to make as much as I can instead of buying the party supplies. The one thing Breaker was focused on was his cake. So I knew the cake table would be my main attraction. I didn’t want to do too much decorating because sometimes it’s just unnecessary spending. Of course balloons! I actually learned how to make a Balloon arch. It’s actually not that hard. Just hard on my hands, LOL! I bought the arch tape at party city that already has the holes to just pop the balloons in. Of course I need practice but hey I think I did pretty good. I ordered the back drop from Amazon. PJ mask is all about the night-time and buildings so I saw this one and it was perfect.

IMG_3870

The food! Ok so that’s always the part I stress on. I want everyone to enjoy but I also like it easy for me and not to mention the Birthday Boy had to approve. We went back and forth with what to serve. We ended up just being simple and had pizza. It’s Breaker’s favorite and hey who doesn’t like pizza. We ordered from a local Pizza shop called Follieros it’s great and the salad is tasty. It was perfect.

IMG_4019IMG_4016

The cakes, I wanted 3 cakes for each of the characters. His favorite is Cat boy so I wanted that one to be bigger. I was so happy with how they turned out. And they were delicious. She also made the rice krispie treats and again delicious. It was my first time using Lisa from With a pinch of love. She was great to work with and all around great experience. I will be using her again.

IMG_3882IMG_4017

The cookies and Cake topper. I have talked about Auntie Apple before, She is great I love working with her. She always kills it and Breaker is always super happy with his cookies. I love supporting women, especially these two women are all around great. Definitely recommend both.

IMG_3861IMG_3864

I had a separate little table for the kids that was important. I wanted Breaker to have his little space with his friends and cousins. My sister AKA Nina got all the kids place mats, They were so cute! I ordered the boxes from Shop sweet lulu I also got the popcorn boxes and polka dot balloons from there. They have a lot of cute party supplies. The water bottle print outs and not pictured the Hershey bar covers were from etsy and we just printed them out. I also placed some coloring activity books and play doh for the kids. That kept them busy if they weren’t in the Jumper. Side note always get a Jumper it just makes it fun and keeps the kids entertained.

IMG_3932

My sister again Aka Nina drew this adorable life-size Cat Boy for him out of wood. She worked so hard on this. With her busy nurse schedule, she did this for him and we loved it. Best Nina ever.

Hope you all liked this post! I love sharing personal photos with you all. My family life is the most important part of me.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving. From my family to yours!

How to deal with Holiday rush

How to deal with Holiday rush

Hello Ladies! Ok so I’ve been feeling very uninspired. I feel like the end of the year gets hard to keep up with the Blog, Instagram and my most important my family. So I always get extremely stressed out. I’ve been trying not to get overwhelmed, But it’s hard. I want to continue to bring great content to my blog, because it makes me happy. But I’ve hit a wall and I know once the holidays pass I will be refreshed.

So with that in mind I wanted to share a few things I like to do to avoid that Holiday rush and stress.

I’m all about writing list. I write down everything. Of course my gift list, grocery list and what food I’ll be making. List help me so much. I love to see it written and there’s nothing like crossing it off! That feeling never gets old! I know we all have different traditions but I think we can all relate to the shopping and the never-ending wrapping! For years I shop and leave it in bags. This year no way. I’m always leaving wrapping to the last-minute and I end up hating it. So this year I am totally wrapping as soon as I purchase. Because you end up wrapping about 50 things Christmas Eve, LOL!

Shopping! Ok we all love that, NOT! I mean for myself but it’s hard to shop for others. My kids are usually easy for me, But I have nieces, nephews, Etc. Mostly all teenagers or young adults. This year I decided to be easy on myself and my wallet! I haven’t decided what, but I’m going to be giving very easy gifts but with meaning to them. I’m always stressing out and trying to be extra. This year no way! And I’ve come to the conclusion that gift cards are not a sign of not caring or putting more effort, I love gift cards and I’m sure so will they.

Malls! I avoid them as much as I can around this time, They make me dizzy! I’m an online shopper and I like the more outdoors shopping. Like the Grove or The Americana and Old town Pasadena. I usually do most online and the rest I will wake up super early and get it done before the crowds. And I leave my kids at home!

IMG_4902

The most important is just be there in the moment. We are all so busy and rushed that we let the holidays pass right by us and we don’t enjoy the moment. So this year I promised myself to be there in the moment. I remember Christmas as a kid and having no worries. I want that no worry Christmas so I can be there physically and mentally  with my kids and hubby!

I have a very fun giveaway that I hope you all enter, I will be announcing the rules and the very special collaboration with this giveaway on Sunday Nov 18 on Instagram. It’s in honor of Breaker’s 5th birthday. I will have a special blog post next week on his party!

Hope this was helpful and happy shopping! Till next post.

My go to Banana Bread recipe

My go to Banana Bread recipe

Hello Ladies!!! Happy Halloween! I hope you all are doing well and I hope all my mamas out there survived the rush of getting the kiddos ready for Halloween. I’m so glad I got Breaker’s costume ready before I even left on my trip. Because I know from experience with my oldest that the week of Halloween always seems so busy. My oldest son was simple this year so it was just about ordering and buying a hat. I’m so glad he still likes to dress up. And we all know once Halloween is over its crunch time for Christmas. I feel like Thanksgiving is a middle child, LOL! We love it but tend to not give it as much attention as Halloween and Christmas. Can you tell I’m the middle child, LOL!

With Holidays on our mind and the weather in LA getting cooler, I bet we are all looking for our baking recipes. I love to Bake but really have to be in the mood. I do love to bake for others as gifts or just a special treat for the holiday season. I did share my favorite chocolate chip recipe last year, Here it is! And I’ve shared my pizza recipe, Here too! Both of those are favorites in my house and with family. So hopefully you try them!

Side note most of my recipes I share I have found on Pinterest, I love pinterest so much. It’s pretty much my favorite thing to go on. This next recipe I will share is from pinterest. I’ll share original link as well.

Banana Bread is probably one of my favorites. And I think we all have had those ripe bananas sitting around that we won’t eat just like that! I’ve been making this particular recipe for 5 years now and still love it. It’s super simple and delicious. The kids love it too. I’ve hand written the recipe here for you but I will also link the original post that I actually follow. Being a blogger I would hope someone would give me the credit if it was one of mine.

FF5032A3-5B13-422B-8D5F-C2060BF40064IMG_3453IMG_3454IMG_3457IMG_3461

What I love to do for treats for friends, neighbors or co-workers is get a cute piece of material and wrap with a string just so it looks cuter when you hand it out. You can even use tissue paper or put it in a treat bag with some ribbon. It makes it more fun to receive.

Hope you all liked this post. And hope you all bake some Banana bread! Till next post!

Halloween treats

Halloween treats

Hello My friends! Hope you all are doing well! I can’t believe October is almost over, Like seriously! Once Halloween passes by, all the other holidays come knocking hard! I don’t even want to think about christmas shopping! I think online shopping will be my friend this year.

I wanted to share some cute little treats I found on Pinterest! I wanted to make something for Breakers class that wasn’t so much candy. When I saw these I knew I had to make them. I did change it up a little. But still basically the same. Here’s the original link from Pinterest.

This is what you’ll need and how to make these cute little Frankensteins!

BXLLE6820

Supplies you will need. Play-Doh, I got the small size not the smallest they have but smaller than the original size. But you can use the bigger ones if you’d like. Some Rolo chocolates, green felt, some googly eyes, sharpie and glue gun. I purchased the play-doh and Rolo candies from target, the felt and googly eyes from Michaels.

IMG_2988-1.jpg

For one treat you will need this, one play-doh tube, 2 Rolo chocolates, 2 eyes, measure the green felt so you cover the tube of play-doh and cut into a strip. Lastly your sharpie for the mouth.

Facetune_17-10-2018-14-29-57

Once you have all the supplies ready, glue the felt around the tube of play-doh, glue the rolo candies on the side, the googly eyes have adhesive so you just have to pop those on and draw the mouth however you’d like. Doesn’t have to be perfect. Wallah you have these cute little Frankenstein treats for the littles. They will love these. I even had Breaker help make them so he can be excited to give these out to his friends at school.

I love Pinterest for all my craft ideas. I love to re-create and change it up to be my taste. Our kids get so much candy so I wanted to give something fun.

Hope you all liked this post, If you re-create them tag me in a picture on Instagram. Would love to see. Till next post!
